RSS Terms of Use

Afrikons publishes RSS feeds so readers can follow our work in the reader of their choice, and so other publications can keep an eye on what we're covering. That's the whole intent.

Feeds are available for the front page and for each section. Every item carries a headline, a summary, a byline, a timestamp, and a link back to the full article on Afrikons.

Subscribe in any feed reader, personal or commercial, and read as much as you like.

Display our headlines and summaries on your own site or in an internal digest, as long as each item links back to the original article on Afrikons and the Afrikons name appears as the source.

Build a personal tool — a bot that pings you about funding rounds, a dashboard on your own screen — provided it polls politely and isn't resold.

Republish full articles. The feed carries a summary on purpose; expanding it by fetching the article body and reposting it is not permitted.

Strip our byline, remove the link back, or present feed items in a way that suggests you wrote them.

Place advertising directly inside or adjacent to an Afrikons feed item in a way that implies we endorse the advertiser.

Use feed content to train or fine-tune machine learning systems. Feed access is not a training licence.

Resell the feed, or a derived product made mostly of our headlines, as a paid service.

Please poll no more than once every fifteen minutes per feed. We publish throughout the day, but not that fast.

Send a descriptive user agent with a contact address. If something is wrong with your client, that's how we reach you before we block it.

Support conditional requests. Honouring the ETag and Last-Modified headers we return saves both of us bandwidth.

Clients that ignore these limits may be rate-limited or blocked without notice.

Feed URLs, item structure, and summary lengths may change as the site evolves. We'll keep redirects in place where we reasonably can, but we can't guarantee a feed will exist forever.

Availability isn't guaranteed either. Feeds are a convenience, not a service level commitment.

If your use goes beyond what's described here — full-text syndication, an internal media-monitoring product, translation, or bulk archiving — we license that separately and the terms are usually straightforward.

Write to licensing@afrikons.example with what you'd like to do and roughly how many people would see it.

We'd much rather send an email than a lawyer. If a use falls outside these terms, we'll normally ask you to change it and give you a reasonable window to do so.

We reserve the right to withdraw feed access at any time, and to enforce our rights where a request goes unanswered.
